Lighting Design Leader
You will work closely with the Lighting Design Director to lead the lighting design of allocated projects from early concept through completion.
You will shape the design narrative, develop and deliver lighting design schemes, and translate conceptual intent into comprehensive documentation packages. This role positions you as a key leader within the lighting design team, supporting project delivery, mentoring designers, and collaborating with consultants, contractors, and suppliers to achieve the highest design outcomes for high‐end hospitality environments.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Lighting Design Director to establish conceptual lighting direction for allocated projects
* Develop lighting design proposals for review, including concept narratives and presentations
* Lead development of detailed lighting design schemes
* Select and specify lighting fixtures and develop lighting control and dimming strategies
* Translate conceptual design intent into fully resolved documentation packages, including drawings, schedules, and specifications
* Lead lighting design delivery and provide strategic design reviews throughout project phases
* Coordinate closely with Interior Design teams to ensure lighting design integration across projects
* Ensure that lighting design intent is carried through DD and documentation phases
* Support project delivery through site attendance, commissioning, setup, and coordination with project teams
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in lighting processes, systems, and approaches
* Oversee lighting QA and support agile project delivery
* Mentor project and supporting staff on lighting design objectives, principles, and best practice
* Manage and maintain strong relationships with consultants, suppliers, and contractors
Qualifications & Benefits
* A diploma or higher qualification in Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related discipline
* Extensive experience (ideally 5+ years) in a similar lighting‐focused role within high‐end hospitality, hotel, or resort projects
* AutoCAD and SketchUp skills are essential
* Strong experience creating and implementing lighting designs from concept to delivery
* Sound technical knowledge of lighting fixtures, control systems, and dimming strategies
* Experience commissioning lighting within hotel and resort environments
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills
* Clear communication of design intent and technical requirements to design teams, consultants, and contractors
