The Deputy Chief Radiographer works with the Chief Radiographer and Clinical Director of Radiology to provide day-to-day management of the Tasmanian Diagnostic Breast Imaging Service (TDBIS).

The Team:

You will be joining a highly skilled, multidisciplinary radiography and clinical team delivering specialist breast imaging services across the Tasmanian Diagnostic Breast Imaging Service and BreastScreen Tasmania. The team is committed to providing safe, compassionate and patient‐centred care, underpinned by evidence‐based practice, quality improvement and continuous professional development.

Working closely with the Chief Radiographer and broader leadership team, the Deputy Chief Radiographer plays a key leadership role in fostering a collaborative, respectful and inclusive workplace culture. The team values open communication, shared accountability and innovation to ensure high‐quality outcomes for patients accessing breast imaging services across the state.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to service leadership, mentor and support staff, and influence the ongoing development of clinical practice, quality systems and digital imaging workflows within a supportive service.

The Role:

The Deputy Chief Radiographer works with the Chief Radiographer and Clinical Director of Radiology to provide day-to-day management of the Tasmanian Diagnostic Breast Imaging Service (TDBIS).

The role of the Deputy Chief Radiographer is to:

* Assist the Chief Radiographer in operational management and coordination of TDBIS services and ensure that patients receive appropriate and effective quality services in a timely and integrated manner.
* In consultation with clinical staff identify, plan and implement quality improvement activities and monitor quality assurance activities of the TDBIS.
* Provide specialist radiography services to the TDBIS and BreastScreen Tasmania.
* Maintain a lead support role for the RIS/PACS.
* Ensure the provision of safe and compassionate patient centred care founded on excellence in practice, respect, and inclusive leadership.

You will need

* Experience and demonstrated knowledge and skills relating to the management of a diagnostic breast imaging service and the capacity to maintain clinical and professional standards of Radiographers.
* Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of quality activities, principles of radiation safety and regulations pertaining to diagnostic breast imaging.
* High level written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution, together with the ability to handle interactive relationships with patients, their support person/s and the multidisciplinary team, with a high level of professionalism, ensuring the patient's privacy, dignity and confidentiality are maintained.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76hours per fortnight, commencing from 10 May 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:$123,717 to $134,336 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement
* Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

* Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
* A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro ratais applicable to this role.

Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia

Registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia

* Postgraduate qualifications relevant to medical imaging. Experience in PACS administration.
