The University of Queensland invites applications for the Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow – Electrical Engineering role.
Overview
This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UQ, St Lucia Campus. There are Academic Level A and Academic Level B salary ranges listed below.
Responsibilities
- Research: Development and validation of predictive maintenance algorithms for solar farms. Interface with industry partners for knowledge sharing and feedback. Report to the funding organisation Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA). Develop an independent and/or team research program to achieve national recognition and impact in the research area. Establish a research program, collaborate on projects, seek and manage funding, publish in reputable journals, apply best practices, and participate in project discussions.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage personnel, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, support colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You
- Completion of a PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on renewable energy systems, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience. Demonstrated technical expertise in electrical engineering and renewable energy systems. Proficiency in Python and R, with robust AI and data analytics capabilities.
- A developing reputation and track record of publications in refereed journals and conference presentations.
- Experience in seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding or technical projects.
- A growing record of supervising Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
- Experience in meaningful internal service roles and external activities.
The successful candidate may be required to complete pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and education checks. Relocation support and employer-sponsored work rights may be available.
Salary and Location
- Academic Level A: Base salary range $82,057.75 – $109,246.18 plus 17% Superannuation
- Academic Level B: Base salary range $114,824.05 – $136,048.72 plus 17% Superannuation
- Base salary noted as applicable; salary is in Australian dollars and subject to UQ terms.
- Based at St Lucia Campus, Brisbane, Queensland.
