Our Communications and Marketing team delivers strategic marketing, communications, and community engagement across both traditional and digital platforms. From managing the City of Salisbury’s website, intranet, social media, and digital screens to overseeing media relations, brand management, and in-house design, the team ensures the community stays informed and connected to Council initiatives, events and programs About the role: We’re on the lookout for a creative and driven Communications and Social Media Officer to join our team at the City of Salisbury. In this exciting role, you’ll coordinate, curate and deliver engaging content across our social media channels, helping to tell the City’s story and keep our community informed. You’ll lead the implementation and reporting of our social media strategy, offering expert advice to teams across the organisation. In addition to managing our digital screen network, you’ll support the delivery of impactful visual communications and provide general administrative assistance to our Communications team. Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging and timely content across the City’s social media platforms. Implement and evaluate a strategic social media plan aligned with organisational goals. Provide expert social media advice to internal teams to enhance community engagement. Create and curate high-quality content in collaboration with Communications Advisors, including video production. Coordinate and manage paid social and digital media advertising campaigns. Monitor performance and generate regular social media reports to guide future strategy. Stay up to date with current social and digital media trends and apply insights to content creation. Coordinate content for the City’s digital screen network using PADS4 software. Support the development of visual communications aligned with corporate branding. Provide administrative support across the Communications team and assist with digital asset management. To be successful within this role you will have: Experience working in digital communications, public relations, or marketing environments. Proven skills in managing social media channels and using social media management tools (e.g. Brandwatch). Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a flair for creating engaging content. The ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and stay calm under pressure. A collaborative mindset, with experience working across diverse teams and stakeholders. The confidence to work independently as well as part of a supportive team. Tertiary qualifications in marketing, digital communications, or a related field. Experience using creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms. Familiarity with website content management systems and maintaining online content. An understanding of marketing and communications within a local government or similar setting. Why join us?
