Job Summary
The Theatre Support Officer provides vital operational support in the operating theatre, assisting with room preparation, equipment, patient movement, and infection control to ensure safe, efficient and dignified perioperative care at Royal Hobart Hospital.
The Team
Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania's largest hospital and provides tertiary‐level surgical services to the Tasmanian community. The Theatre team works collaboratively across the Operating Theatre Suite, Perioperative Unit, Day Procedure Unit and Recovery areas to ensure safe, timely and high‐quality surgical care.
Responsibilities
The Theatre Support Officer will prepare operating rooms, support the safe use of specialised equipment, assist with patient movement and positioning and maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection control and workplace safety. The role works closely with nursing, medical and allied health staff to support the smooth flow of perioperative services.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Demonstrated ability to safely assist with patient handling, movement and positioning in a perioperative environment, in line with WH&S requirements.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast‐paced, high‐pressure setting.
* Knowledge or ability to develop knowledge of theatre equipment, infection prevention and control and emergency procedures relevant to perioperative practice.
* Desired: holds or is working towards a Certificate III or IV in Operating Theatre Technical Support through a nationally accredited training provider.
Employment Type
Fixed‐term, casual, shift‐worker positions (approximately 12 months).
Salary & Benefits
$67,193 to $72,126 pro rata per annum plus 12% superannuation contribution. Plus 25% casual loading (equivalent of $42.34 to $45.45). Salary packaging includes living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other eligible benefits.
