Environmental Manager
This is a key role within our organization, responsible for leading environmental and sustainability compliance across all construction activities.
The successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring that all environmental obligations are met through proper planning, execution, and monitoring. This includes overseeing the project's compliance with sustainability targets through accurate recordkeeping and reporting.
* Key responsibilities include implementing and maintaining the approved Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and associated sub-plans.
* The Environmental Manager will conduct regular environmental audits, inspections, and monitoring for compliance with project specifications and Defence policies.
* They must ensure prompt incident reporting in accordance with protocols and maintain environmental records including inspection reports and approvals for site activities.
* Supervising subcontractor compliance with environmental requirements is also essential.
* Additionally, the successful candidate will develop and maintain the Sustainability eNotebook, ensuring that all milestones and documentation meet Defence standards.
* Compliance with sustainability goals related to energy efficiency and low-emission materials is critical.
* Tracking and documenting all sustainability submittals, including calculations and certifications, is also a key responsibility.
* The Environmental Manager will represent the environmental and sustainability functions in project meetings.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field. A minimum of 5 years' experience in environmental management within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects is required.
Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth, NT, and Defence environmental regulations is essential. Experience on Defence construction projects is desirable, as is strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently with Defence stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
A proactive problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement and sustainability innovation is highly valued. Strong technical writing skills for preparing environmental and sustainability reports are also essential.
