The Company
Our client is a fast‑paced, dynamic renewable energy company delivering flagship utility‑scale projects across solar PV and battery energy storage systems. Currently undergoing a major recapitalisation to fund significant portfolio expansion over the next 5‑6 years, they operate at the leading edge of scaled renewable energy delivery in Australia. The company maintains a unique employee‑owned model, valuing self‑motivated, growth‑minded individuals who aren't caught up in hierarchy. With a strong focus on culture and a non‑bureaucratic approach, this company offers the perfect environment for leaders who want to roll up their sleeves and make a real impact.
Your Role
This is a newly created, critical role within the shared project services function, reporting directly to the GM of Development & Delivery. You'll have the rare opportunity to build a team and mature processes from scratch whilst overseeing the successful delivery of utility‑scale renewable energy projects.
* Leading engineering and procurement functions across the development team
* Building and maturing a new team over a 12‑18 month period
* Overseeing the successful completion of utility‑scale projects in PV and battery storage
* Establishing and maturing processes and systems for the engineering and procurement function
* Managing tight relationships with major equipment manufacturers
* Pushing boundaries of high performance and efficiency systemisation
* Collaborating across shared project services including origination, grid engineering, planning and engagement, and delivery teams
* Getting across the complete project portfolio and assessing existing team needs in your first six month
Your Background & Experience
We're looking for a hands‑on leader who thrives in fast‑paced, ambiguous environment and isn't afraid to get into the details alongside their team. An engineering degree is not a strict requirement, but leadership experience in engineering functions is essential.
* Proven experience in utility‑scale PV, wind, or battery storage projects with a track record of successful project delivery
* Technical procurement expertise (not general contract/commercial procurement) with experience managing relationships with major equipment manufacturers
* Demonstrated leadership in building and managing engineering teams, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands‑on execution
* Self‑motivated and growth‑minded approach - you thrive without constant direction and are comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities
* Experience in fast‑growing, dynamic environments where flexibility and agility are essential
* Strong relationship management skills and team‑oriented mindset that contributes positively to company culture
* Practical 'doer' mentality - not caught up in hierarchy or titles, willing to roll up your sleeves
