About the role
The Aboriginal Health Unit is currently seeking a part-time Aboriginal Workforce Officer to join the team. The Aboriginal Workforce Officer actively encourages prospective work areas within Barwon Health to engage Aboriginal jobseekers and supports local Aboriginal community in regards to recruitment, workplace wellbeing and professional development. The Aboriginal Workforce Officer also oversees the implementation of the Aboriginal Employment Plan and has regular contact with all Aboriginal employees and their Supervisors and Managers, acting as a cultural consultant and mentor. The Aboriginal Health Unit and team is located with University Hospital and provide support and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inpatients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide advice, support and training to Managers on attraction, recruitment and selection of Aboriginal applicants
* Provide mentoring to Aboriginal applicants
* Work collaboratively to develop culturally appropriate promotional materials and social media protocols
* Coordinate and participate in external recruitment campaigns, expos and community engagement activities to strengthen relationships with Aboriginal communities
What we're looking for
* Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is recognised by their community
* Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal culture and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations
* Strong communication skills (verbal, written and digital) with the ability to work effectively in a small team environment
* Proven experience implementing organisational plans and contributing to strategic outcomes
