We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Audio-Visual Technicians to join our team in a role central to delivering exceptional events and guest experiences for the newly constructed Nyaal Banyul Convention Centre.
This role requires strong technical capability across multiple event technology disciplines, along with the ability to adapt to evolving systems and production environments.
About Nyaal Banyul
We're preparing to open the doors to our brand new Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre — an exciting space designed to bring people together through creativity, innovation and unforgettable experiences.
Set to open in July 2026 on the Geelong Waterfront, Nyaal Banyul will be Australia's newest convention and event centre. Operated by the Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET), the venue features a 1,000-seat theatre and over 3,700 square metres of versatile event space, designed to host everything from community gatherings to major conferences and entertainment events.
Located in a vibrant city known for its rich history, stunning waterfront and thriving arts scene, Nyaal Banyul will be a place where people come together to share stories, connect and celebrate.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Event Delivery & Technical Operation
* Deliver high-quality production services across a wide range of live events.
* Be a part of the full event cycle including setup, configuration, live operation, monitoring and pack down.
* Operate, test and maintain venue event technology systems to ensure seamless event delivery and operation.
* Work across multiple event spaces, adapting to different production requirements and event formats.
Multi-Discipline Event Technology Support
We are seeking technicians that have working knowledge across multiple areas of event technology, including:
* Vision & Video Systems
* Audio
* Lighting
* Hybrid Events & Conferencing
* Event Infrastructure & Staging
Teamwork & Event Collaboration
* Work closely with venue teams, event organisers, performers, and production staff.
* Communicate complex technical concepts clearly in a client-facing environment.
* Collaborate with colleagues to deliver event excellence.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
* Understanding live event production environments, particularly within convention centres, theatres, or large event venues.
* Strong practical knowledge across production systems.
* Confidence working with presentation systems, conferencing platforms, and hybrid event technology.
* Understanding IT/AV networking and system integration.
* Excellent troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work under pressure during live events and strict production timelines.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
* Professional communication skills and a strong customer service mindset.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a production team.
* The role requires the ability to translate technical documentation into practical event setups while identifying potential issues before they impact event delivery.
