Alyv's Specialised Youth Worker is a professional who plans, organises and oversees programs for young people to support their development in skills-building, positive social interactions and decision making for positive outcomes, with a specific interest in human rights matters and youth justice systems. The successful applicant will be responsible for promoting the physical, emotional and cognitive development of children and young people, including:
- Meeting, interviewing and building rapport with clients to create trusting support relationships
- Assessing the needs of clients to plan, develop and implement individualised support programs
- Assisting clients to solve social, emotional and financial challenges
- Supporting families to provide care, support and education for clients
- Prepare and securely store records and reports relating to clients
- Liaise with relevant community groups, organisations and government entities regarding community issues, resources and services
- Referring clients for additional services as required
This role is anticipated to grow from working directly with individual clients to overseeing an expanded team and service delivery. Initially this role will require hands on work directly with young people supporting them and their families in their homes and communities.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
The successful applicant will have, at a minimum, a bachelor's degree level qualification in a directly related discipline, and a proven background and understanding in matters regarding human and civil rights.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
The successful applicant will have, at a minimum, three years of experience working with and advocating for children and young people with disabilities.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Minimum bachelor's degree qualification in youth work or directly related discipline
- Minimum three years of experience in similar role
- Proven background in human and civil rights and youth justice systems
- Ability to disseminate, interpret, follow and communicate relevant legislation, policies and procedures
**Salary**: $74,500.00 per year
