Manager, Program Legacy and Transition

Fixed Term, Full time for 12 months
Overview
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) is seeking a Manager, Program Legacy and Transition to provide a critical role within the Stolen Generations Reparations Unit. The Manager will develop the Plan that will guide the final years of the Stolen Generations Reparations Package, determining the future of key policy, program, workforce and governance aspects as the package approaches its closing date on 31 March ****.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the Director and Unit leadership team to establish project governance to oversee development of the Plan, involving existing Aboriginal program leadership.
Plan and deliver project documentation, including timeframes, direction and risk management, to ensure appropriate oversight of the Plan's development and implementation.
Prepare high-quality briefings on the Plan for DJCS executives and the Attorney-General.
Lead policy and program briefings to enable implementation of the Plan.
Supervise staff supporting the design, delivery and implementation of the Plan, including development of briefings and submissions.
Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrated expertise in managing complex government projects, preferably relating to the establishment, transformation of organisations or redress schemes.
Track record of delivering reform projects or redress schemes on time and to budget.
Experience in managing large budgets and government reporting requirements.
Relevant experience in policy, project management or program management (desirable).
Relevant qualification in law, policy or project management (desirable).
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society, and an understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting the Stolen Generations and Aboriginal Victorians.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience delivering high-quality strategic policy and/or program briefings.
Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal Community.
In-depth understanding of cultural safety principles and experience working with participants who have lived experience of trauma.

Salary
VPS 6: $138,631 – $185,518 plus superannuation.
