Metso is looking for a confident, capable and influential Safety Leader to take ownership of HSE at our Karratha Service Centre.
This is a permanent, full-time position and requires a local Karratha resident.
In this hands-on, operationally driven position, you'll take the lead in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations across the Karratha Service Centre.
You'll spend your time building trust with supervisors, trades, and technicians while driving meaningful improvements.
Key responsibilities include
Developing, implementing and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures aligned with Metso, APA and local legislative requirements
Leading and improving Metso's HSE Management System across the Repair Centre
Conducting regular audits, inspections and compliance checks
Supporting and facilitating risk assessments and the implementation of effective controls
Influencing behaviours and challenging unsafe practices to drive safe decision-making
Leading incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
Delivering and coordinating HSE training, ensuring compliance with certification requirements
Managing regulatory compliance, monitoring legislative changes and acting as the site interface with regulatory agencies
Driving safety engagement, safety committees and continuous improvement initiatives
Leading and promoting environmental and sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with all environmental standards
Being an integral member of both the Metso QEHS team and the Karratha Service Centre operational leadership team
About You
You're a confident, proactive safety professional who knows how to hold your ground, influence change, and lead with credibility.
You understand operational environments and you're not afraid to have the tough conversations that drive safer outcomes.
You will also bring:
Experience in HSE roles within mining, manufacturing, workshop, repair or heavy industrial environments
Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, HSE Management Systems and industry requirements
Proven experience in audits, inspections and incident investigations
Experience developing safe work procedures, controls and risk assessmentsStrong verbal, written and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and lead
Proficiency in safety management systems, incident investigation tools, and reporting platforms
Injury management and return-to-work capability
Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent (highly regarded)
Must be a current Karratha resident
