Senior Substation Project Engineer
Job Summary
At POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, we are currently seeking a senior-level electrical or mechanical engineer to work as a Substation Project Engineer in the Power Delivery Substation Department. This role is based at our Augusta office in Hallowell, Maine and offers flexibility for a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop strong relationships with local clients.
* Mentor junior staff on substation project execution.
* Perform and oversee detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations, including technical specifications and layouts.
* Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and optimal resource allocation.
* Conduct quality assurance and control for deliverables across multiple offices.
* Manage project schedule, budget, and quality for assigned projects.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited university.
* Professional Engineering license (PE) or the ability to obtain within one year.
* Experience in physical and electrical design of substations from 15kV through 345kV, following IEEE/ANSI standards.
* Experience managing a team of five or more on multiple projects.
* Proven experience as a project engineer on concurrent projects.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective collaboration.
* Legal authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Ten or more years of experience in utility substation design.
* Established relationships with local clients.
* Experience designing 345kV through 500kV substations.
