About the opportunity
12-month Maternity leave cover opportunity. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), is responsible for the provision of high quality and efficient clinical service delivery and the effective mentoring and leadership of the Nursing Team. In the absence of the NUM, the ANUM will manage the professional and operational resources of the ward.
Werribee Mercy Hospital's Paediatric Ward is a dedicated 12-bed unit providing compassionate, family-centred care to infants, children, and adolescents aged 0-18. Opened in 2019, the ward offers a supportive environment where parents are encouraged to stay and participate in their child's recovery. With multidisciplinary support and strong ties to tertiary services, our team is passionate about delivering high-quality, evidence-based care in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
* Provide safe, holistic, and family-centred nursing care to paediatric patients, supporting their physical, emotional, and developmental needs while partnering with families as key members of the care team.
* Perform comprehensive assessment and ongoing monitoring of children's physical, emotional, and developmental health.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver responsive, flexible care that meets the unique needs of children and their families.
* Advocate for the child's voice and family involvement in all aspects of care planning and decision-making.

* Recent paediatric ward experience (Essential)
* Recent experience as an ANUM (Desirable)
* Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
* A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.
* The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
* A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
* Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
