Job Description
KROWN LIVING PTY LTD The Wood Machinist is responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of woodworking machines to manufacture timber components used in cabinetry, joinery, furniture, doors, window frames, and other architectural features. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, understanding of timber properties, and the ability to interpret technical drawings to meet project specifications.
Benefits Salary: $76,515 to $85,000 plus Super depending on experience Task & responsibilities Machine Operation:
* Operate and maintain woodworking machinery such as panel saws, thicknessers, planers, spindle moulders, CNC routers, band saws, and mortising machines.
* Set up machinery according to job requirements and ensure optimal machine performance for efficient production.
Timber Preparation and Machining:
* Select appropriate timber types and grades according to the project requirements.
* Cut, shape, profile, and finish timber components to exact measurements and tolerances.
* Conduct test runs and adjust settings as needed to achieve desired output.
Drawing Interpretation and Quality Control:
* Read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and specifications accurately.
* Inspect finished components for accuracy, defects, and conformance to quality standards.
* Make adjustments or rework pieces as necessary to meet client and project expectations.
Workshop and Safety Compliance:
* Follow all WHS (Workplace Health & Safety) guidelines and company safety procedures.
* Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on machines.
* Maintain a clean and organised workspace.
Collaboration and Reporting:
* Coordinate with site supervisors, cabinetmakers, and joiners to ensure materials are ready for installation.
* Report material shortages, equipment malfunctions, or production delays to management.
Qualification & experience
* Must possess at least an AQF Certificate III or IV or in lieu of formal qualifications, must have a minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience as Wood Machinist or related job
* Experience working on residential and/or commercial construction projects for at least 12 months
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job sheets with accuracy
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
* Knowledge of WHS practices and machinery safety procedures
* Physical fitness and stamina for manual handling and long periods of standing
* White Card (General Construction Induction)
* Valid driver's licence (preferred) About Company
