Technical Officer - Workshop (Fitter/CNC Machinist)
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative team within the Technical Support Services Workshops portfolio. As a skilled Fitter and CNC Machinist, you will play a key role in delivering timely and effective technical services within the University's Camperdown Campus workshops.
* The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the agreed delivery of technical services within the Camperdown workshops.
* They will work closely with clients to develop prototypes from concept to design and manufacturing.
The ideal candidate will have trade qualifications in Fitting and Machining/Tool making with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant training and practical experience.
* They will possess proven ability to operate machine workshop equipment such as milling machines, lathes, drills, grinders, woodworking machines, and MIG and TIG welding machines.
* Experience in setting-up, programming and operating CNC machinery is essential.
* The candidate will also have knowledge of CAD and CAM software and be able to read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure accuracy and to perform Precision Machining work as per job requirements.
This role requires a high level of expertise and attention to detail, with a strong focus on safety and quality assurance.

* They will establish and maintain working relationships with customers and fellow staff.
* Effective communication and engagement with clients to understand technical requirements are also essential.
