Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established to deliver long-duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will support the transition of Queensland's energy system. In June 2025, the Queensland Government transferred oversight of Queensland Hydro to Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC). QIC has extensive experience managing infrastructure assets and is well placed to provide oversight of project delivery.

As the Desktop Support Engineer, you will play a vital role in shaping a sustainable energy future for Queensland, delivering impactful solutions that benefit our communities and the environment.
What You'll Do
We are seeking a Desktop Support Engineer for a Fixed Term position until 30 June 2026. You will play a critical role in delivering responsive, secure, and customer-focused IT support across Queensland Hydro's corporate offices and remote project sites. Reporting to the Operations Cyber Lead you will provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for end user devices, applications, identity services, and workplace systems, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests while contributing to broader infrastructure, cloud, and cyber security initiatives.
Your key responsibilities will be:
End user support and service delivery by resolving incidents, service requests, and onboarding tasks in line with service standards and SLAs.
* Support Microsoft 365 services including Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, OneDrive, and related tools.
* Manage device setup, imaging, compliance, provisioning, and peripheral support aligned with organisational standards.
* Assist with user identity administration, group memberships, MFA setup, and access permissions in accordance with access control policies.
* Assist with support and integration of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID services, including basic configuration tasks.
* Triage, document, escalate, and resolve technology issues using ITSM tools and the internal knowledge base.
Who You Are
You will be offered a strong foundation for technical growth across cloud platforms, automation, and identity management, and supports Queensland Hydro's strategic goals through reliable, user-centric IT service delivery.
To thrive in this role, you will preferably have a formal qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Your three years' experience in a Level 2 or higher IT support role, with demonstrated capability across Windows environments, Microsoft 365 services, and end user device management will set you up for success. In addition, you will exhibit:
* Experience supporting users and systems within regulated environments or critical infrastructure sectors (e.g. energy, utilities, government) is advantageous.
* Relevant industry certifications are highly desirable, particularly in endpoint support, cloud productivity, or service management domains.
* Familiarity with cyber security awareness principles and ability to reinforce secure behaviours during support interactions.
* Proficient in using ITSM platforms to log, triage, escalate, and resolve support requests in alignment with SLAs and ITIL practices.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement through documentation updates, service enhancement suggestions, and knowledge sharing.
