Sacca's Fine Foods is a proudly family-owned and fast-growing business, well known for our commitment to fresh produce, premium-quality products, and exceptional customer service. As we expand into our brand-new, state-of-the-art store in Coburg, we are looking for passionate, skilled Deli Assistants to join our friendly team.
Our new store is designed to be a true one-stop shop, featuring a full-service butcher, seafood counter, bakery, licensed bistro and café, sushi bar, and much more. It's a dynamic, customer-focused environment where quality and service are at the heart of everything we do.
About the Role:
As a Deli Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and serving a wide range of delicatessen items including sliced meats, cheeses, antipasto, and other gourmet goods. You'll work closely with your team to ensure the deli section is well-stocked, clean, and running smoothly throughout the day, while delivering outstanding service to every customer.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for fresh food, excellent attention to detail, and strong customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Delivering friendly and knowledgeable customer service at the deli counter
* Slicing, cutting, and grating a range of smallgoods and cheeses to order
* Preparing and packaging deli products for display and sale
* Ensuring product displays are visually appealing, clean, and well-stocked
* Assisting with stock rotation, labelling, and checking use-by dates
* Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food prep areas
* Operating deli equipment safely and efficiently (slicers, graters, scales, etc.)
* Following all food safety, handling, and OH&S procedures
* Working as part of a team to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive work environment
About You:
We're looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, reliable, and take pride in delivering quality food and customer service.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Minimum 6 months of deli or food retail experience
* Confidence using deli-specific equipment such as slicers and graters
* A basic knowledge of smallgoods and cheeses, or a willingness to learn
* Strong awareness of food safety and hygiene practices
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Great communication skills and a customer-first mindset
* Good physical fitness, including the ability to stand for long periods
* Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required
