Offer description

Pac Planning is a boutique town planning consultancy that provides a personalised, hands‐on approach to guide projects from concept to approval. Our expertise lies in making the planning process transparent and hassle‐free for builders, designers, and homeowners. With a strong focus on local knowledge and practical solutions, we help clients navigate regulations, overcome challenges, and achieve their vision. Our collaborative and approachable style ensures clear communication, trusted advice, and consistent support throughout the journey.

About You

You are a motivated Planner or Senior Planner who works well independently and takes ownership of your projects. You are a self‐starter with strong initiative and accountability, and are comfortable managing multiple projects in a consultancy environment. You are reliable, solutions‐focused and client‐minded, and are keen to contribute to a growing planning consultancy.

You have solid experience interpreting and applying NSW planning legislation and preparing statutory planning reports such as SEEs, feasibility assessments and due diligence advice. You communicate clearly, write well, and provide practical planning advice to clients and project teams.

About the Role

This role is offered on a part‐time basis of 15 hours per week on an initial 6‐month contract. There is potential for the role to extend beyond this period and grow into a full‐time permanent position, subject to workload and business needs. The role is primarily remote with a flexible hybrid arrangement. Most work will be undertaken independently, with regular communication and coordination with the Director.

The position will support the delivery of statutory planning projects and reports across a range of development types. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director while maintaining a high level of independence, accountability and ownership over their work.

This role is well suited to someone who is interested in growing with a small business and contributing to its development over time as the workload and client base continue to expand.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare high‐quality planning documentation including Statements of Environmental Effects, Reviews of Environmental Factors, Feasibility Assessments and Pre‐Purchase Due Diligence reports across a range of development types.

Undertake detailed planning assessments against NSW planning legislation and policy frameworks, including LEPs, DCPs, SEPPs and relevant strategic planning documents, and apply these to real‐world development scenarios.

Manage Development Application documentation from project commencement through to lodgement, including coordination of plans, supporting reports and consultant inputs.

Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently and within agreed timeframes, with strong attention to detail and accountability.

Liaise professionally with clients, councils, certifiers and consultant teams, providing clear and practical planning advice and maintaining strong working relationships.

Respond to Requests for Information, provide additional planning justification where required, and assist in navigating the assessment process through to determination.

Work autonomously with a high level of independence, initiative and professional judgement, while maintaining clear communication with the Director on project progress, risks and priorities.

Maintain a strong client service focus by delivering responsive communication, managing expectations and supporting positive project outcomes.

Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities for repeat or additional work, supporting preparation of proposals where required, and fostering strong relationships with clients and industry collaborators.

Contribute to continuous improvement of internal systems, templates and workflows, and maintain up‐to‐date knowledge of planning legislation, policy changes and industry practice across NSW.

Experience and Qualifications

Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent industry experience.

Minimum 3 years' experience in a planning role.

Experience within local government in addition to private planning consultancy is highly desirable.

Demonstrated experience preparing statutory planning reports and working within NSW planning frameworks.

Membership with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA), or eligibility and willingness to obtain membership.

If you're looking for flexibility and the opportunity to grow with a small consultancy, we'd love to hear from you.
