Job Overview
The Senior Legal Counsel, Business Bank Regulatory will provide transactional and regulatory legal advice across a diverse range of banking and finance activities to support multiple brands and business units.
Responsibilities:
* Structuring and settling banking and finance transactions in a timely and quality manner.
* Providing expert advice on legal and regulatory requirements, including under the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, and BCOP.
* Offering comprehensive legal support for regulatory projects, including projects to address bank initiatives to minimize regulatory risk and respond to new legislative or regulatory requirements.
* Delivering high-quality, commercial, and timely legal advice on matters such as marketing and promotional activities, advice on credit and financial products, mandatory breach reporting, and customer remediation.
Requirements:
* A qualified legal practitioner with 6-8 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in Australia.
* Strong technical legal skills and a practical understanding of banking and finance transactions, including equipment finance, structured and dealer finance products.
* Experience advising on SME business structures and foundational knowledge of property, corporate, and trust law.
* A working knowledge of key legislation, rules, codes of practice, and guidance, including the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, Privacy Act, Banking Code of Practice, and AML/CTF Act.
* A collaborative mindset and ability to build trust with stakeholders by delivering clear, tailored legal advice.
* Confidence in leading complex transactions and projects with minimal supervision.
