What This Role Involves
The Clinical Lead is a senior leadership role within the headspace Armidale team. You will oversee the coordination and delivery of clinical services, ensuring young people receive safe, effective, and evidence-based care across the four core headspace streams:
* Mental Health
* Physical & Sexual Health
* Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) Services
* Work & Study Support
You will provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary workforce, manage clinical escalation, oversee service flow, ensure fidelity to the headspace model, and support clinicians through supervision and professional development.
This role is central to clinical governance, service quality, and strengthening integrated care pathways within the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and expert guidance to headspace clinicians, private practitioners, in-kind staff, and students.
* Oversee day-to-day clinical operations, including intake, triage, case allocation, reviews, escalation, and discharge planning.
* Act as the primary point of clinical escalation and monitor risk, demand, and waitlists.
* Ensure delivery of evidence-informed, developmentally appropriate and family-inclusive care.
* Lead continuous improvement and support the delivery of evidence-based therapies (e.g. CBT, ACT, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing).
* Identify and manage governance and clinical risk in line with the headspace Model Integrity Framework (hMIF).
* Chair clinical review meetings and ensure documentation meets required standards.
* Provide higher-level clinical intervention for young people with complex or high-risk presentations.
* Ensure clinical staff receive appropriate supervision, orientation, and professional development.
* Oversee data collection, KPI reporting, service evaluation, and hAPI reporting.
* Foster strong partnerships with external services and support integrated referral pathways.
* Ensure compliance with privacy, safety, quality, and mandatory reporting obligations.

Essential Criteria
• AHPRA‑registered Psychologist, OR Social Worker with approved qualifications, mental health endorsement, and AASW eligibility, OR AHPRA‑registered Occupational Therapist with mental health training/endorsement, OR Division 1 Mental Health Nurse with relevant mental health qualifications and/or experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including supervision and clinical escalation management.
• Advanced skills in evidence-based assessment, intervention, and clinical risk management for young people.
• Experience supporting family-inclusive practice.
• Strong understanding of social and emotional well-being for First Nations young people.
• Proven ability to build effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
• High-level interpersonal, written communication, and time‑management skills.
• High standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
• Minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience, with General and/or Specialist AHPRA Registration and approval to supervise students in accordance with relevant professional body requirements (e.g. AHPRA, AASW).
