- 6 months contract with a possible extension

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
You will be responsible you’ll drive major development projects from concept to completion. You’ll manage complex projects, support innovation in development design, and work with government, industry, and community partners to deliver real impact.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Project Delivery and reporting
- Manage development projects to meet key targets, including land release, settlements, revenue, and cost control.
- Manage the full project lifecycle (including but not limited to): design, approvals, procurement, construction, and project closure/lessons learned.
- Produce high-quality reports that clearly communicate complex technical issues, translating them into accessible insights to support decision-making, approvals, and executive briefings.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to apply creative and efficient development approaches, including placemaking and design-led solutions, that enhance project outcomes and community value
- Well-developed probity and governance skills to lead procurement, contract management, and approval processes. Identify, analyse and manage risk, including safety compliance, environmental approvals, and ACT legislative requirements.
- Applicants from the private sector are encouraged to demonstrate equivalent experience such as managing commercial contracts, navigating regulatory frameworks, or leading risk-based decision-making, even if not within a government context.
- Build and maintain relationships with ACT government agencies, industry partners, community groups, and internal teams. Represent the organisation in negotiations, public meetings, and industry forums.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including staff, consultants, and contractors.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience managing project timelines, budgets, and overseeing consultant or contractor performance across disciplines (e.g. planning, architecture, civil engineering, or landscape design), to ensure services are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to summarise complex information and prepare well-structured reports and recommendations for a diverse audience.
- Tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in a related field such as: Project/Contract Management, Building and Construction Management, Property Law, Built Environment, Greenfield Suburb/Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Landscape Architecture or Greenfield/Urban Planning.
- Moderate knowledge and experience in land development within the ACT.
