The Role

We are seeking a Principal Psychologist to provide high-level clinical psychological expertise to Forensicare regarding psychological court assessments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing in-custody court reports for the Magistrates, County and Supreme courts of Victoria.

This role will also involve preparing assessments of 'fitness to stand trial' and 'mental impairment (CMIA Act, 1997) as referred by the Office of Public Prosecutions Victoria (OPP).

The Principal Psychologist will conduct court assessments at various sites across the Victorian prison system.


Duties

* Provide high-level administrative, clinical, and forensic expertise to Forensicare's court report service.
* Complete a high standard of court reports for the Magistrates, County or Supreme courts of Victoria, and the Office of Public Prosecutions Victoria (OPP).
* Review all court report requests and related documentation referred to the Court Reports service, and liaise with Administration, Forensicare's Legal team, and/or the referrer if appropriate (i.e., Courts, APB, OPP) to resolve any gaps in information and/or other issues that have been identified.
* Coordinate and/or facilitate training in court report writing and provide supervision for postgraduate psychology students and other psychology staff.
* Liaise with the Director of Psychological Services and Community Forensic Mental Health Services administrative staff in order to schedule court assessments.


About You

* You must have experience in the preparation of reports for Court such as: Pre-sentence reports, assessments for the Adult Parole Board, and Fitness to Stand Trial assessments for the Office of Public Prosecutions (desirable).
* You must be an endorsed Clinical and/or Forensic Psychologist with at least 10 years experience.
* You must be an endorsed supervisor with Ahpra and have supervision experience of psychology staff and students.
* You should have expertise in clinical forensic mental health practice including forensic assessments (i.e., court ordered assessments, assessment of risk for violence) and intervention with offenders and/or forensic patients.
