At Qantas, we represent Australia to the world. Our diverse country is known for its unique spirit, mateship, and a can-do attitude. Together we’re strong and resilient, and we work hard to make sure we’re always at our best.

Together we’ll show you it’s possible to make an impact, and to never underestimate what you’re capable of achieving.
The Head of Architecture is Qantas’ principal authority for enterprise-wide architecture. This role reports to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – Enterprise and they will lead a multi-disciplinary Architecture function spanning Enterprise, Domain and Solution Architects. The successful individual will also set the architectural vision and personally practice Enterprise Architecture to guide complex and high-value initiatives.
This position is designed to uplift architecture capability, establish a cohesive practice, and ensure every technology investment delivers enduring value, resilience and speed-to-market for Qantas Group businesses.
You’ll Have
* 12 + years’ experience in Enterprise & Solution Architecture within complex, regulated enterprises with significant technology scale and 5 + years in architecture leadership roles
* Minimum bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related; postgraduate business/technology qualifications desirable. Certifications in EA frameworks (such as TOGAF, Zachman/FEAF) are a plus, but not essential.
* Demonstrated ability to formulate and lead a holistic architectural strategy across business, application, information, technology and security domains. You'll demonstrate experience across the entire strategy lifecycle, including:
* Capturing and analysing a holistic view across business, data, application, integration, infrastructure and security layers, and determining major gaps and inadequacies in our overall technology landscape
* Crafting, socialising and executing a future-state architecture that connects business strategy to executable roadmaps, and enables cohesive, cost-effective and resilient solutions.
* Disciplined assessment of emerging tech, vendor offerings and legacy debt to inform investment choices, retirement plans and innovation pilots.
* Previous experience and hands-on skill establishing standards, review boards and automated controls that balance delivery velocity with risk management.
