Job Description/Summary: The Sterile Processing Coordinator reports to the Manager, Sterile Processing. Under general supervision of the department manager, shift supervisor or designee, the SPD performs instrument production, case assembly, sterile processing, decontamination of surgical instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements. This position participates in quality improvement initiatives, functions as a preceptor to new hires, and assumes role of supervisor in supervisor's absence. This position may require supervisory roles of multiple locations.

Minimum Training and Education
High School Diploma. 2 years' experience in Central Sterile or as a Surgical Tech is preferred.
Certifications
Must have certification from IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management).

Qualifications
* Graduate of high school or GED; certified and maintain certification in sterile processing from HSPA or CBSPD; at least three (3) years of experience in sterile processing and/or leadership role. Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and/or Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) certification preferred.
