About the role
The position reports to the Director Future Students and Engagement and operates under their open direction. The Director provides strategic leadership in setting and delivering the communications and media activities, campaigns and programs across the UNE Community to achieve strategic objectives determined by the VC and Executive. The Director is responsible for delivering contemporary communications, and media solutions to inform and support UNE Staff, students, our community and all external stakeholders in the various places in which we operate. This role collaborates closely with and advises the UNE Executive and their portfolios of responsibility, the University Council, Executive Deans, Executive Directors, Colleges and other Student cohorts, UNE Life, People and Culture and Estate and Built Environment functions to ensure UNE operates as an effective modern university and leading regional anchor institution.
The position has line management responsibility for staff in corporate communications, media and social media, and a devolved group of communications and events functions across the university community who all contribute to managing information channels and strategic events.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
o Extensive experience in strategic communications leadership, preferably in higher education or a complex organizational environment
o Proven ability to develop and execute creative communications plans that enhance organizational objectives
o Superior stakeholder engagement and relationship building capabilities
o Strong team leadership and people management skills
o Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
o Demonstrated experience in managing organizational reputation and brand strategy
o The ability to work effectively in a changing environment while delivering results
About the Department
The Future Students and Engagement department integrates Student Liaison, Future Students team, Marketing, Future Growth, Corporate Communications, Advancement, Alumni and Events into a seamless operation which oversees the prospective student journey from awareness through to enrolment and continues along the Alumna journey. The operations, activities and engagement are managed in a coordinated way so that efficiencies and scale can be brought to every engagement along the continuum.
