About the school
The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two National Schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business. The National School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney. The School of Arts and Sciences delivers a practical, ethical and industry-focused education in diverse areas of study such as the liberal arts, communications and media, counselling, psychology, social work, and science, with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer.
About the role
As the successful applicant, you will teach political science courses across undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both face-to-face and blended learning environments. You will lead and contribute to research in political science, oversee industry-aligned courses, and actively seek opportunities to attract external grant funding while building collaborative links with industry partners.
In addition, you will undertake academic administrative responsibilities, which may include moderating courses offered at other campuses. The role encourages active involvement in professional engagement and cross-disciplinary initiatives. You will be expected to provide leadership in teaching and learning, scholarship, and professional engagement within the School, while demonstrating excellence in student engagement and community relations.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver both foundational and advanced courses in political science.
Actively participate in the design and development of curriculum, ensuring alignment with contemporary advancements in the discipline.
Provide leadership and management in course coordination and delivery, which may include overseeing sessional academic staff.
Contribute to governance, marketing, promotion, and administrative activities to enhance the profile of the discipline, the School, and the wider University.
Qualifications, skills & experience
A doctoral qualification in political science, or equivalent accreditation and/or standing.
Demonstrated experience in student recruitment (preferred).
Proven experience and/or research expertise in political science, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a national team.
Teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the ability to design and deliver courses using innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
Strong networking skills and the capacity to enhance the School's national and international profile in political science or related disciplines.
Demonstrated ability to attract internal funding and secure nationally competitive research grants.
