About Collingwood Park State Secondary College
We are a new high school opening in January 2025 with Year 7 & 8 students. It is for this reason we are advertising temporarily. Once the staffing allocation has been determined in 2025, we will be able to appoint permanently through the SJM process.
About the Role
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Material and classroom activity preparation:
Setting up of practical workshops and classrooms prior to a demonstration lesson by teachers.
Preparation of all materials for curriculum projects as requested by teachers.
Operation of plant and equipment to prepare materials (eg. table saw, band saw, thicknesser and a docking (mitre) saw. In addition, wide sheet CNC Router and Laser Cutter. Training can be provided).
Manufacture and set up additional facilities to support teachers (e.g., jigs, templates, etc.).
Stock control:
Monitor and store the quantities of equipment, materials and supplies in the Faculties.
Restocking.
Complete regular stocktake of tools, consumables and electrical equipment.
Monitor all electrical and mechanical equipment conducted annual or bi-annual.
Maintenance:
Maintenance of equipment, tools and machinery at regular intervals.
Undertaking minor departmental maintenance on plant and equipment, performing simple welding tasks as approved by Head of Department.
Faculty Administration:
Provide administrative assistance to teachers. This may include photocopying information sheets for classes, conducting departmental stocktaking and keeping machinery maintenance records, phoning trades' people and assisting with quotes for repairs.
Basic cleaning and housekeeping:
This will involve emptying bins and dust filter collection bags, clearing unused materials, putting away hand tools and equipment, replenishing material supplies, and moving mechanical equipment between workshops as required.
The ideal applicant will be someone who is:
Highly motivated, well organised and able to work individually and as part of a team.
Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with students, staff and the wider community.
Ability to plan, meet deadlines and prioritise workloads and to be flexible in a changing work environment.
Ability to quickly acquire knowledge and understanding of school operations, standards and work processes.

In accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000, successful applicant must hold a current Working with Children Check clearance (Blue Card).
