About the Role
We are seeking an organised, creative and community-minded professional to join our Community Engagement team as Events and Marketing Coordinator.
This dynamic role is responsible for coordinating a vibrant calendar of School events that support The Friends’ School’s community engagement objectives, while also contributing to key marketing and communications activities. The position plays an important role in fostering warm relationships and strong connections across the wider Friends’ community and with prospective families.
The Events and Marketing Coordinator oversees the planning and delivery of a range of school events, which requires strong organisational capabilities, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The position also supports the School’s marketing and communications efforts through the preparation and production of marketing content for various publications and across digital channels.
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and creative professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, people-focused environment and who takes pride in delivering high-quality events and communications that strengthen community connection.
This is a permanent part-time position, commencing as soon as possible.
Key Focus Areas
* Plan and deliver a comprehensive schedule of School events aligned with community engagement objectives, including enrolment events, parent welcome functions, milestone celebrations and whole-of-school events.
* Coordinate catering and logistics for major staff events, including induction days and whole-of-staff gatherings.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, external suppliers and volunteers to ensure the successful delivery of events.
* Oversee all event logistics including risk assessments, run sheets, checklists, stakeholder coordination and on-the-day operations (including some after-hours and weekend events).
* Manage event communications, invitations and RSVPs in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Specialist, including post-event follow-up and feedback.
* Contribute to marketing and communications activities, including digital content, social media updates, the Focus publication and the weekly What’s On newsletter.
* Coordinate external venue hire enquiries, including site visits, bookings, compliance requirements and liaison with relevant School personnel.
* Provide reception support as required and undertake additional duties aligned with the skills and level of the role.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Commitment to The Friends’ School’s Purpose & Concerns and to fostering a positive, inclusive, and professional environment.
* An understanding of the 10 National Child Safe Standards and the ability to maintain a culture of safety and respect for young people.
* Strong organisational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
* Demonstrated capacity to exercise initiative and responsibility in day-to-day work.
* High level of computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and email.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and work professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People (Employment) registration and a National Police Check issued within the past six months.
