Primary objective
Manage and oversee compliance activities to achieve robust and contemporary occupational regulation across a range of
portfolios and legislative frameworks.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide sound leadership, training and resources to support compliance officers in the delivery of regulatory services in
line with the objectives of the NT Government.
1. Coordinate, review and undertake regulatory and compliance activities in accordance with relevant legislation, policies
and procedures.
3. Discharge statutory and administrative responsibilities under a range of legislation in the occupational regulation
environment, as administered by the department.
4. Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
5. Represent the unit in relation to relevant industry issues, including forums, meetings and working groups.
6. Provide a high level of advice to government and relevant industries.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience working within a regulatory, compliance or enforcement setting, with the capacity to apply this knowledge
to the regulation of licensed industries.
1. Proven experience leading a team within a regulatory, compliance or investigative framework, with the ability to manage
resources and priorities to achieve high-quality outcomes.
3. Ability to provide high quality research, interpret legislative provisions and operate in accordance with relevant
legislation.
4. Ability to achieve positive results through working collaboratively and cooperatively with a range of internal and external
stakeholders and build organisational capability, responsiveness, and effectiveness.
5. Sound skills, knowledge and experience relevant to interpreting complex matters including the ability to problem solve
and propose practical strategic recommendations relevant to corporate governance issues.
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills and high-level negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
7. Demonstrated integrity, resilience, and a proactive attitude, with the ability to positively influence team culture and
contribute effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications, for example in law or public / business administration, will be highly regarded.
