We're now seeking a Financial Controller to lead our finance team and shape the financial future of our organisation.
About the Role
As Financial Controller, you’ll play a key strategic and operational role in strengthening Jabiru’s financial systems, delivering accurate reporting, and supporting financial sustainability. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll lead financial operations including reporting, budgeting, compliance, payroll oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives — all within a values-driven, child-safe organisation.
You’ll partner closely with the Executive Team, funding bodies, external auditors, and service managers to ensure transparency, efficiency and strong financial stewardship.
What You’ll Do
* Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
* Deliver high-quality financial analysis to support executive decision-making
* Coordinate the annual budget process and financial forecasting
* Oversee compliance with AAS, ACNC, ATO and funding obligations
* Manage end-to-end audit preparation and liaison
* Oversee payroll systems and ensure legislative compliance (incl. STP, superannuation)
* Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and internal controls
* Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team
* Support organisation-wide financial capability building
What You’ll Bring
* Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
* CPA or CA qualification (or eligibility)
* Strong experience in a senior finance role covering reporting, compliance, audit and budgeting
* Expertise in Australian Accounting Standards and not-for-profit financial compliance
* Proficiency with financial systems and Excel
* High emotional intelligence and a strong alignment with Jabiru’s values: Collaboration, Respect, Evolution, Connection and Trust
* Highly Regarded:
* Experience in education, OSHC, or the NFP sector
