.NET Software Engineer (APS6 Equivalent)
Location: Canberra (Onsite – with some flexibility considered)
Security Requirement: Must hold Baseline Security Clearance at commencement
About the Opportunity
We are seeking experienced .NET Software Engineers to support a federal government client delivering critical ICT projects within a large and complex enterprise environment.
You will contribute to the development and enhancement of Azure-based web applications, APIs, and digital platforms, supporting legislative reporting, regulatory processes, and customer-facing services.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-impact, secure, cloud-native solutions within a modern DevOps and Agile delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain .NET (Framework/Core) web applications and APIs
* Build and support Azure-based solutions, including API integrations and messaging services
* Develop customer-facing portals using modern frontend frameworks (Angular or React)
* Integrate multiple systems to deliver end-to-end digital experiences
* Apply secure coding practices aligned to government standards (e.g. ISM)
* Conduct code reviews and contribute to technical design decisions
* Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
* Produce and maintain technical and release documentation
* Collaborate within Agile, cross-functional teams
* Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum 5+ years' experience developing secure web-based applications
* Strong experience with:
* .NET Framework / .NET Core / ASP.NET
* Experience building web APIs and customer-facing portals
* Frontend experience with Angular or React
* Experience integrating with third-party systems (e.g. Dynamics 365 or similar)
* Strong understanding of secure development practices and familiarity with the ISM
* Experience with testing frameworks such as xUnit, nUnit, Selenium, or Playwright
* Proven ability to modernise or optimise legacy applications into cloud-based solutions
* Experience working in federal or state government environments
* Exposure to DevOps and Agile delivery models
* Experience with:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in software engineering or related field
