Hawkesbury City Council is seeking a dedicated and forward-looking General Manager to lead administrative operations and serve as the primary link between the elected body and the organisation. This vacancy offers an opportunity to support the Council in developing a strong vision, values, and strategic direction for the community. The role focuses on the efficient management of day-to-day operations, delivering a high level of services to residents while building a culture of active staff commitment.
Responsibilities
* Inspire the Executive Leadership Team to build a high-performing culture driven by continuous improvement
* Champion the Council's strategic vision and deliver their vital projects
* Be the confident, trusted voice connecting the elected body, dedicated staff, and residents
* Lead the delivery of key planned projects efficiently and manage staff in accordance with the Council's Project Management Framework
* Oversee financial management and sustainability in line with the established 10-year long-term financial plan
* Ensure implementation of any current rate increase complies with statutory and proclamation requirements
Qualifications and profile
* The ideal candidate will be a highly resilient leader with ideally General Management experience, or at the very least senior executive expertise, in the local government sector
* Ability to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders, including government departments, local businesses, and community groups
* Ability to project a positive image of the Council in the media and promote a Civic Leader role across the region
* Strong political acumen to navigate complex environments while championing a diverse community
