Junior Full Stack Engineer — Sydney
About the Role
A growing technology team is looking for a Junior Full Stack Engineer to help develop and enhance a cloud‑based API platform used globally. This position suits someone early in their engineering career who wants hands‑on experience building real products while learning directly from experienced developers. The team encourages in‑person collaboration to accelerate learning, while still supporting flexible work practices.
You'll work on scalable backend systems, interactive front‑end components, and customisable toolkits used by a wide range of customers. The environment promotes experimentation, problem‑solving, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
Contribute to building, modifying, and supporting API and platform features.
Take part in task planning, estimation, and cross‑team collaboration throughout the development lifecycle.
Help investigate technical problems and implement long‑term, practical solutions.
Contribute from early ideation through to final release.
Required Skills
0–1 years of hands-on development experience (internships, bootcamps, personal projects all welcome).
Good understanding of JavaScript, CSS, and front‑end debugging.
Exposure to a server‑side language (PHP, Python, or similar).
Experience with ReactJS.
Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases.
Basic understanding of Docker.
Experience writing unit and integration tests.
Understanding of state management tools (Redux, Context API, Vuex, NgRx, etc.).
Knowledge of component-based UI development and reusable component patterns.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Interest in API design.
Curiosity or experience with AI tools.
Exposure to test‑driven development (TDD).
