Riverina Cancer Care Centre (RCCC) is a regional oncology centre providing cancer treatment services to the Riverina community. Wedeliver high-quality radiation oncology, chemotherapy, haematology, pharmacy and multidisciplinary supportive care services across Australia.
Our Wagga Wagga radiation oncology department plays a vital role in ensuring equitable access to advanced radiotherapy for regional patients. We are expanding our clinical team due to increasing service demand and are seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist to join our department.
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Radiation Therapist who can operate independently across CT simulation, treatment delivery, image guidance, treatment verification, and associated quality assurance activities. The successful candidate will work closely with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, Dosimetrists, and Oncology Nursing staff to deliver safe and accurate radiation treatment.
This is a frontline clinical position contributing to patient care, workflow efficiency, departmental quality standards, and service continuity.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform CT simulation, immobilisation and preparation of patients for radiation treatment.
* Deliver daily radiotherapy on linear accelerators, including IGRT / verification imaging.
* Apply appropriate technical parameters, imaging protocols and treatment settings according to departmental procedures.
* Review and verify treatment plans, prescriptions, fractions, MU settings and imaging requirements.
* Maintain accurate documentation within oncology information systems.
* Monitor patient condition and ensure safety, comfort and escalation when required.
* Collaborate with Physics / Dosimetry teams for planning, troubleshooting and QA activities.
* Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Provide patient education and support throughout the treatment process.
Skills & Experience Required
* Bachelor of Radiation Therapy, Medical Radiation Science (Therapeutic), or equivalent.
* Eligibility for professional recognition / registration in Australia.
* Demonstrated experience in CT simulation and linear accelerator operation.
* Strong understanding of IGRT, verification workflows, safety protocols and radiotherapy procedures.
* High attention to detail with strong clinical judgement and communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
* Experience with oncology information systems will be highly regarded.
