Overview
Avant is seeking an experienced Security Business Analyst to play a critical role in delivering key Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Network Security initiatives, alongside broader cyber security uplift programs. This role partners with technical teams, security specialists and business stakeholders to define, analyse, and deliver security requirements that reduce cyber risk while enabling business outcomes. You'll bring strong analytical skills, knowledge of security frameworks and the ability to translate complex security concepts into clear business requirements. Responsibilities
* Support delivery of cyber security uplift initiatives, particularly Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Network Security programs.
* Analyse current security processes and controls, identify gaps, and help design future-state security capabilities aligned with recognised frameworks.
* Elicit, analyse and document business and security requirements, translating technical controls and regulatory obligations into clear functional and non-functional requirements.
* Facilitate stakeholder workshops and collaboration across business, security, and technology teams to prioritise and validate requirements.
* Review and validate security solution designs to ensure alignment with business requirements, security architecture principles, and regulatory obligations.
* Produce and maintain high-quality documentation and process models, including BRDs, user stories, RTMs, and workflow diagrams.
* Support solution delivery and testing, including facilitating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for security controls and capabilities.
* Ensure requirements traceability, scope management and change control throughout the project lifecycle.
* Contribute to security risk management and regulatory compliance, including alignment with standards such as APRA CPS 234, CPS 230, and ISO 27001.
* Support vendor and third-party engagements, including RFP processes and security capability assessments.
Skills And Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Systems, or a related discipline.
* Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CRISC highly regarded.
* 4+ years' experience as a Security Business Analyst, ideally within the Financial Services industry.
* Demonstrated experience delivering cyber security uplift initiatives, particularly in Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Network Security.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior and technical stakeholders.
* Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including gap analysis, impact assessment, and root cause analysis.
* Proven experience in requirements elicitation, documentation, and prioritisation using structured BA practices.
* Experience with process modelling and documentation tools such as Visio, Miro, or Lucidchart.
* Working knowledge of business analysis frameworks (e.g., BABOK) and Agile BA practices.
* Ability to produce high-quality, audit-ready documentation, including requirements traceability matrices, test cases, and process documentation.
