About the work unit / facility
Medical Ward 5 is a secure, 30‑bed unit on the ground floor that provides care for acute medical geriatric patients. The unit includes 17 acute medical beds and 13 secure beds for patients with acute delirium and Behaviours and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD). It offers a secure environment and large gym facilities to support comprehensive medical, nursing and allied health input from admission to discharge. Staff are specifically recruited to care for patients with geriatric syndromes, including delirium and dementia.

* Base salary range: $56.08 - $60.05 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1)
* 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

About your opportunity
Provide clinical expertise, support and education to nursing staff within Medical Ward 5 to ensure the delivery of best‑practice, high‑quality patient care. The Clinical Nurse provides leadership, support, research and education within the ward's multidisciplinary team and across the broader hospital and health service in the specialty of Cognitive Impairment. The role includes reviewing and assessing geriatric patients, in consultation with the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultant and Medical teams, to determine suitability for transfer into the secure unit.
Requirements
Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent and registration with AHPRA.
Highly desirable
Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the position or working towards a relevant qualification.
