They are seeking a Payroll Co-Ordinator to oversee the payroll function and manage a small team of 3. This is your opportunity to contribute to a team that values purpose, progress, and people.
Your new role
Managing a small team, you will:
* Supervise, motivate, and train team members while providing clear direction, regular feedback, and performance management aligned with organisational goals.
* Identify and implement process improvements through stakeholder consultation and ensure consistent communication of legislative, policy, and procedural changes.
* Oversee the employee self-service module and liaise with payroll system vendors to ensure functionality and support.
* Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including application of Awards and Industrial Agreements, and maintenance of employee records.
* Review and adjust payroll reports, and process complex payroll transactions such as garnishee orders, deductions, terminations, back pay, wage advances and salary changes
* Govern payroll data integrity through regular audits and respond to audit queries with appropriate follow-up actions.
* Administer superannuation, including monthly returns, deductions, reconciliations, and updates for starters, terminations, and changes.
* Ensure timely forwarding of tax and deduction payments and prepare advice for relevant companies.
* Generate detailed payroll and HR metrics reports, including end-of-year reports and payment summaries.
* Provide training and support to payroll system users and liaise with People and Performance on Award interpretations and industrial matters.
* Identify and lead payroll-related projects, system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives, including user acceptance testing.
* Act as the key point of contact for HRIS vendors and relevant stakeholders
What you'll need to succeed
* Demonstrated extensive experience in a similar role.
* Proven track record in payroll compliance, including payroll audits, month-end, year-end, payroll tax and reporting.
* Ability to interpret awards, industrial legislation, and agreements to ensure compliance.
* Demonstrated experience in supervising and motivating a small team, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Exposure process improvement is critical
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
* Be able to demonstrate a hands-on approach and strong technical ability in all areas of processing.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
* High-level attention to detail, supported by strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
* Technically proficient and highly adaptable
* Advanced Excel required
