Total Plant Hire is a well-established family-owned Western Australian hire company which provides equipment to the Mining, Civil and Construction industries and we have an exciting opportunity in a new role within the company as a Vehicle Check-In Inspector/Parts Technician.
This position will be responsible for inspecting and documenting the condition of vehicles, plant, and machinery upon arrival from hire, ensuring accurate records, and communicating any issues to relevant departments. This role is vital in maintaining quality control and customer service standards to ensure off-hires requirements are being met in a prompt and timely manner.
The Vehicle Check-In Inspector/Parts Technician will also be responsible for contributing to an efficient parts and on/off hire department and will be required to be diverse across parts knowledge and ordering and available to assist with leave coverage within the department.
The role is suited to a motivated and driven person who can work independently and demonstrates a passion for the manufacturing, industrial, and trades and services industry.
Offering a competitive salary (pro rata) this a part-time position, working 15 hours per week at our Pinjarra workshop with the possibility of further hours depending on operational needs. Though there will be some flexibility for the right person.
The position will include duties such as but will not be limited to:
Conduct a thorough inspection of incoming (off-hire) vehicles, plant and machinery checking for damages, mileage, fuel levels, and other key details.
Accurately record all findings, including any pre-existing damage via TPH processes and systems.
Take photos of vehicles, plant and machinery as needed for documentation purposes and off-hire charges.
Assign identification tags or stickers to vehicles, plant and machinery for tracking and ensure they are placed in designated areas.
Notify management of any discrepancies, damages, or concerns related to vehicle, plant and or machinery condition.
Follow all TPH policies and safety procedures during inspections.
Liaising with parts representatives or relevant personnel to ensure accuracy in off-hire process.
Issue purchase orders to assist the parts department when required.
Assist with sourcing of parts and materials for the ongoing maintenance of equipment and other duties when required.
Assist with leave coverage within the parts department when required.
Follow all WHS policies and procedures as required.
To be successful in this role you are required to demonstrate:
High attention to detail and accuracy in recording vehicle, plant and machinery conditions.
Sound knowledge of vehicle, plant and machinery components and ability to identify damages.
Strong written and verbal communication
Sound computer skills in Excel, MS and MYOB
Ability to use mobile devices, tablets, or computers for data entry.
Ability to work in outdoor environments and stand for extended periods.
Knowledge in sourcing of parts and materials for vehicles, plant, and machinery,
A valid driver’s license (HR license desirable though not essential).
High attention to detail, problem solving capabilities, a team player and able to work independently.
Previous experience as a qualified mechanic or fitter with post apprenticeship accreditation. Ideally, you’ll have worked with a large range of motor vehicles, plant and machinery.
