Special Care Nursery Nurse
We are seeking experienced and competent Registered Nurses to join our neonatal care team in Tasmania. This short-term contract opportunity is available from July 2nd to September 23rd.
The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in neonatal assessment and monitoring, family-centered care, and infection control. They will also have experience with thermoregulation, basic respiratory support, and developmental care.
Core Competencies:
- Neonatal assessment and monitoring
- Family-centered care and communication
- Infection control and aseptic technique
- Accurate documentation and clinical handover
Required Skills:
- Feeding support: breastfeeding, bottle, and nasogastric tube feeding
- Basic respiratory support: low-flow oxygen, apnea monitoring
- Developmental care: positioning, kangaroo care, sensory environment management
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Skills:
- Advanced respiratory support: CPAP, high-flow, mechanical ventilation
- IV therapy: peripheral and central line care, TPN, IV medications
- Critical monitoring: blood gases, seizure recognition, cardiorespiratory monitoring
Certifications:
- Neonatal Resuscitation
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Requirements:
- Minimum 12 months recent experience in SCN or NICU
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
