**The role**
As the General Manager Resolution you are responsible for shaping and delivery of APRA's strategy, policy and practices with respect to recovery and resolution of financial institutions, across each of the Banking, Insurance and Superannuation industries.
You will come with significant leadership capability in connecting and collaborating with key stakeholders, leading transformational change, and in building relevant capability within the team and externally, in accordance with APRA's objectives.
**The team**
The role is a member of the APRA Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Policy & Advice (PAD) Executive team, reporting to the Executive Director.
The PAD division is responsible for developing, maintaining, and interpreting APRA's prudential framework and providing advice, support and approvals with respect to matters across all APRA Divisions. The specialist areas within PAD are Advice & Approvals, Legal Services, Licensing, Policy Development and Resolution.

**Key responsibilities**
- **People leadership**. Lead a team of professionals to deliver high quality outcomes, fostering an inclusive environment that creates a sense of belonging and trust, and allows people to actively contribute and reach their full potential;
- **Strategic management. **Contribute to the development and implementation of business plans for the Division to ensure they support APRA's strategic, business and operational objectives and priorities;
- **Process**. Lead and support the development and implementation of prudential regulation systems and procedures that are targeted at identifying and resolving issues at an early stage;
- **Resolution infrastructure and capability.** Lead the team to develop appropriate prudential frameworks for APRA's crisis management responsibilities. Improve APRA's framework, procedures and processes, for responding to the failure or near-failure of one or more financial institutions, including through crisis management simulation exercises, including through identifying and developing synergies between Resolution and supervisory teams in particular, to strengthen preparedness of APRA supervisors for financial failure or crisis;
- **Quality resolution outcomes.** Participate as a member of relevant governance forums at senior and working group levels to promote quality decision making and matter management of escalated entities and issues, including operation of these forums in line with APRA's expected values and behaviours;
- **Financial management & resourcing.** Manage the operation of the Resolution team within agreed budgetary constraints and devise resourcing strategies to address evolving needs. Ensure appropriate workforce management to create alignment across the enterprise and minimise duplication.
**About you**
- Relevant experience in managing complex financial and operational workouts across diverse stakeholder groups gained in a professional capacity (e.g. insolvency, legal);
- An understanding of critical financial infrastructure and its role and interconnectedness in the system to identify points of contagion in workout scenarios;
- Strong skills in identifying and analysing systemic risks, understanding contagion channels, and evaluating the impact of different workout scenarios for entities, and on the wider financial system;
- Hands-on experience in designing, assessing, or implementing workout or resolution plans, ideally within in a professional capacity; practical experience in developing and running crisis scenarios or "fire drills" to test workout or resolution plans;
- Familiarity with stress testing and scenario analysis methodologies related to workout or resolution matters;
- Strong leadership and management capabilities, including the ability to organise and motivate others, and to meet relevant accountabilities;
- Fosters an inclusive environment that creates a sense of belonging and trust, and allows people to actively contribute, and to reach their full potential;
- Experience in the financial services sector in a senior leadership capacity, with sound understanding of the principles of prudential regulation and financial sector risks;
- Strong personal integrity and an intuitive understanding of what is reasonable and prudent business practice; and
- Professional qualifications in relevant field or equivalent experience.
