About the Role

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is an expert in clinical practice, providing evidence-based and contemporary operational management and leadership within a Correctional Centre or Detention Centre.
This role requires a highly skilled nurse with the ability to build strong relationships, maintain open communication, and create a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Applying specialised knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory in Prison Health Services nursing.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships, open communication, and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team.
* Providing expert contemporary nursing knowledge, skill utilising contemporary evidence-based clinical practice to guide high-quality, safe clinical services.
* Data analysis; outcome evaluation; service improvement and development skills.
* Human resource management and advanced financial literacy within the healthcare environment.
Mandatory Requirements
* Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Clinical experience in corrections or primary health care would be highly regarded.
* Vaccinated against certain vaccine-preventable diseases.

* Demonstrated data analysis; outcome evaluation; service improvement and development skills.
* Demonstrated management knowledge and skills specifically human resource management and advanced financial literacy within the healthcare environment.
