Paspaley Pearling Company is Australia's largest pearl producer and operates throughout the beautiful northwest coast of Australia. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented team player to join our Darwin-based Pearl Production team as a Pearling Information Officer.
Working in this role you will have extensive exposure to the entire pearl production process – from fishing, farming and operations, through to pearl harvest and you will play a key role in maintaining the pearl production stock systems. Throughout your employment you will have to opportunity to learn about diverse topics, including aquaculture, wild fisheries and IT development.
Your role:
* Provide consistent data input and validation for stock control and compliance of pearling production.
* Provide skippers, farm managers and office-based management a clear first point of contact for basic technical and stock control-related queries.
* Collaborate with IT development team to support ongoing improvement of company stock control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Support
* Administration of shell stock control system, including tracking of pearl oyster stock numbers throughout production.
* Routine input and validation of fishing, farming and harvest data.
* Maintenance of stock records within company software packages (including PFMS, CIS and FISH).
* Collation of data for routine and specific stock reporting on shell, pearls, pearl meat and mother-of-pearl.
* Support farm managers with reporting and information requirements.
* Work with R&D Manager on production reporting requirements.
* Maintenance of pearling lease maps in C-plot.
* Administration of pearling leases.
Fleet and Operations Support
* Liaise with farm managers, vessel skippers, production management and the IT team regarding shell and pearl stock information for operations and harvest.
* Input and validation of daily operations reports and harvest receipts.
* Assist with production and distribution of ASFH report and harvest pickup sequences.
* Processing of daily information requirements related to operations, harvest, and transport.
* Processing and collation of post-op mortality data.
* Liaise with fleet regarding transport planning and instructions.
* Maintenance and monitoring of trial shell groups and associated stock data.
You will collaborate with IT Department to
* Identify and import additional data to improve reporting from company software packages and systems (including PFMS, CIS and FISH).
* Change, troubleshoot and enhance company software packages reports and systems to support pearl production management.
* Provide level 1 technical support (basic helpdesk) to farm managers and vessel skippers regarding stock control software, communication and IT systems.

A requirement of the position is to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, pass a Drug and Alcohol test and produce a police clearance.
This position will include small amounts of ad-hoc travel to remote pearl farm sites for familiarisation and liaison with production teams.
The successful candidate will need to be an Australian citizen, or permanent resident with full rights to work in Australia.
