Primary objective
Provide high-level administration and compliance services for implementing education regulation projects, programs and
activities.
Context statement
The Education Regulation work unit, within Quality Standards and Regulation division, contributes to quality education
services across the Northern Territory (NT). Working with Australian and NT Government departments and external
stakeholders and agencies, the unit regulates non-government schools, international education, home education, eligible
options and prosecution of school non-attendance under the Education Act 2015 (NT) and other applicable NT and
Commonwealth legislation, policy and standards.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide administration services for regulation and compliance projects and programs including home education,
international education and non-government schools.
2. Contribute to the planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting of regulation and compliance activity and projects.
3. Provide secretariat, procurement and other high level administrative services to support regulatory functions across the
work unit.
4. Establish and maintain productive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
5. Respond to queries and provide advice to ensure quality service delivery.
6. Develop and implement data and information systems to ensure accurate and timely record keeping, rand inform
monitoring and reporting.
7. Maintain branch information on the department’s website.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Successful experience in supporting services within a legislative framework and contributing to guidelines and resource
development.
2. Demonstrated project/program experience with the ability to plan, implement and report on activity and outcomes.
3. High-level communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently, within and across teams, and with diverse stakeholders to achieve high-level
results and meet deadlines.
5. High-level information and data management knowledge and skills to contribute to the monitoring, analysis and reporting
of project and program outcomes.
Desirable
1. A sound knowledge of the Department of Education and Training’s priorities and objectives.
