The Role
As an APS 6 Capability Analyst, working in the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group, you will work on some of the most exciting and complex guided weapons and explosive ordnance products used by the Australian Defence Force.
As part of the Manufacturing Assessment and Optimisation (MA&O;) Directorate within the Strategy and Pans Branch, you will have the prospect to:
- Develop frameworks to support the analysis of GWEO manufacturing proposals;
- Review, assess and make recommendations on capability proposals for domestic manufacturing;
- Apply your understanding of broader Defence policy and strategic objectives when undertaking capability analysis;
- Be accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and sharing expertise;
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
This role is eligible for Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP), in addition to base salary under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
Note: This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
About our Team
The Manufacturing Assessment and Optimisation (MA&O;) Directorate is an integral part of the Strategy and Plans (S&P;) Branch which is part of the Guided Weapons Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Manufacturing Division. The Branch provides essential strategic guidance and support services for the GWEO Manufacturing Division, ensuring alignment with national objectives and international partnerships. This supports the establishment of a domestic GWEO manufacturing capability to ensure Defence has access to the munitions needed to keep Australia secure and improve supply chain resilience.
The MA&O; Directorate is responsible for identifying an optimal pathway for the development of GWEO manufacturing, aligned with the Defence Industry Development Strategy (DIDS) and 2024 GWEO Plan.
