About The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for a diverse range of strategic planning projects across urban infill, greenfield, rural and coastal environments including the preparation of strategic plans, guidelines and policies and implementation into the planning scheme.
Work type: Temporary full-time (Until June 2026)
Classification: Band 6 $92,971-$100,286 pa plus super pro rata
Key responsibilities include: Prepare, manage and process planning scheme amendments in accordance with relevant planning legislation. Participate in teams involved in the preparation and implementation of strategic plans, guidelines and policies. Represent the City and the Strategic Implementation Unit on internal and external groups. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, provide professional advice and ensure strategic planning considerations are addressed within the Department and by consultants (engaged by Council) during the preparation of strategic plans, policies, guidelines and amendments to the Planning Scheme. Review, analyse and comment on documents provided from officers, consultants and external sources. Provide an information base for Council, the local community, government agencies, developers and the local business sector regarding planning scheme amendments, structure plans and policies. About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or related discipline. Understanding of the planning scheme amendment process including strategic justification, development of new clauses, schedules and maps and procedures in accordance with the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and Victorian Planning Provisions. Ability to prepare strategic plans, guidelines, policies and manage a range of projects. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to translate technical information into plain English. Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City). Child Safety Responsibilities
