Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. 

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Radio Frequency Engineer in Canberra to work at the Land Network Integration Centre.

What You’ll Do
 

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:


* Conduct Test & Evaluation of RF systems and waveforms, ensuring performance, reliability, and alignment with Defence requirements.

* Maintain and ensure serviceability of RF test equipment, supporting ongoing operational readiness.

* Provide SME advice on RF systems and combat platforms, including EMI/EMC considerations, and coordinate engineering efforts across Defence stakeholders.

* Support development, deployment, and improvement of RF test tools and test plans, contributing to TCNBL and broader Defence capability.

* Lead operational analysis, risk‑reduction activities, and acceptance testing, while participating in program events and upholding APS conduct, ethics, and safety standards.


What You’ll Bring


* Tertiary qualifications in RF Engineering.

* Ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation, supporting engineering, testing, and system assurance activities.

* Experience in software development and/or writing acceptance test procedures, contributing to tool development and validation workflows.

* Knowledge of deployable ADF command‑and‑control systems and large‑scale virtualised environments (ESXi) to support Defence‑focused engineering tasks.

* Experience in data and configuration management, including maintaining documentation, baselines, and controlled system changes.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
