About the Role
We are looking for a Junior Software Support Engineer
with an active
NV1 clearance
to join our support team in Canberra. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is passionate about technology, problem-solving, and learning new skills.
You will work closely with experienced engineers to provide software support to government and defence clients, while gaining hands-on experience with modern tools and secure systems. You will also have the chance to work with

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide Level 1 support for software applications and help resolve user issues.
* Follow structured troubleshooting steps to diagnose common incidents.
* Escalate more complex issues to senior engineers or development teams.
* Assist with software updates, basic configuration changes, and routine system checks.
* Maintain documentation, support guides, and knowledge-base articles.
* Use
AI-powered tools
to assist with ticket triaging, log analysis, and issue identification.
* Monitor basic system health and report anomalies.
* Work under established security, operational, and compliance procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
* Active NV1 Security Clearance
(essential).
* Some experience (or strong interest) in IT support, software support, or service desk work.
* Basic understanding of:
* Windows or Linux systems
* Troubleshooting fundamentals
* Reading logs or error messages
* Good communication skills and eagerness to learn from senior team members.
* Ability to follow structured processes in a secure environment.
* Strong attention to detail and customer service mindset.
Desirable (Not Essential) Skills:

* Exposure to monitoring or logging tools .
* Understanding of databases or basic SQL.
* Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
* Experience using ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar service management tools.
* Interest in AI-driven support automation or IT automation technologies.
* Any IT certifications (CompTIA, ITIL, Microsoft, AWS Cloud Practitioner, etc.).
