About the Role
A good truck driver is a rare resource that keeps our Tasmanian communities connected. We have a strong respect for this and are offering an exciting full-time permanent opportunity for an experienced heavy rigid driver.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
* You will represent us in a professional manner while picking up freight from customers and delivering to customers in a consistent and timely manner.
* Ensure all freight is securely loaded, unloaded and lifted/transported in accordance with safety regulations.
* Adhere to scanning and Proof of Delivery procedures as well as safe and law-abiding driving practices.
* Understand and respect our OH&S policies and procedures, as well as all customer practices when on external sites.
* Manage and collect all consignment paperwork and/or manifests and notes at pick up points.
* Ensure freight is packaged in a safe and effective manner.
Desired Skills and Experience:
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Current HR license (manual preferred but not essential).
* Minimum 2 years of experience in driving a heavy rigid truck.
* Experience in pick-up and delivery of general and express freight.
* Experience with radio communications systems preferable.
* Experience with Load Restraint Systems & Equipment preferable.
* Experience with restraining loads in accordance with National Transport Commission's Load Restraint Guidelines desirable.
