Role
The School Nurse/First Aid Manager provides high‐level first aid and health support services to students, staff and visitors in accordance with Department of Education policies and school procedures. The role requires the provision of timely, compassionate and professional care, including accurate assessment of illness and injury, implementation of appropriate treatment, and determination of follow‐up actions. The position supports the school's commitment to student wellbeing, safety and compliance with Child Safe Standards. The role operates with a degree of autonomy, within established guidelines and works collaboratively within the school's wellbeing and administration teams.
Responsibilities
* Administer prescribed and non‐prescribed medication in accordance with the Departmental guidelines and school procedures.
* Maintain accurate and confidential health records using Sentral, eduSafe+, and Cases21.
* Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student health matters as required.
* Maintain first aid facilities, including the ordering, monitoring and replenishing of supplies.
* Ensure compliance with Child Safe Standards and Department of Education policies and procedures.
* Comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements and contribute to a safe working environment.
* Work collaboratively with staff to support student wellbeing and health management plans.
* Provide first aid to students and staff at the school, including student toileting requirements where necessary.
* Dispense medication to students as per medication administration policy with a parent's consent.
* Arrange appropriate storage of medication.
* Maintain the student medical records/medical action plans on eduSafe+, Cases21 and Sentral.
* In consultation with parents, ensure students Individual Anaphylaxis Plans and ASCIA Action Plans are reviewed annually; ensure adrenaline auto injectors are up‐to‐date and accessible to staff; and ensure completion of an Annual Anaphylaxis Risk Management Checklist.
* Act as School Anaphylaxis verifier (responsible for assessing staff in the correct use of auto injectors).
* Prepare student medical alert lists and distribute to staff as required.
* Manage the ordering of First Aid supplies and maintain and fill all First Aid kits.
* Ensure the correct medication accompanies students involved in school activities.
* Maintain records of the locations of all medical equipment.
* Organise and facilitate training in First Aid for all staff, including first aid, CPR and anaphylaxis management.
* Maintain and follow up staff training database for mandatory training requirements according to DET guidelines.

* Diabetes trained to monitor students
* Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
* Valid Working with Children Check (employee)
* ASCA Anaphylaxis Verifier Certificate
* Asthma First Aid for Schools Certificate
* Commitment to complying with Child Safe Standards and OH&S requirements.
* Medication Endorsement
* Sound knowledge of Sentral and Cases21 (or capacity to develop)
